2015 Volkswagen Passat first images released
Volkswagen has released the first images with the 2015 Passat and Passat Variant at the VW Design Center in Potsdam, Germany. Volkswagen describes the car as “premium class car without premium costs”.
At the moment there aren’t official press release but some details are already available. The car It’s up to 85 kg (188 lbs) lighter and will be available with a couple of 1.4 TSI engines generating 125 PS and 150 PS, respectively. There’s also the usual 1.8 TSI with 180 PS and a 2.0 TSI duo with 220 PS and 280 PS. On the diesel side, you will find VAG’s typical 1.6 TDI rated at 120 PS and a trio of 2.0-liter TDIs with 150 PS, 190 PS and 240 PS.
“The new Passat gives the right answers to the major automotive trends of its time,” commented VW Group chief Martin Winterkorn. “For me this Passat is a premium class car without premium costs. This fits perfectly to Europe’s most successful business car – lining up with 20 percent better fuel economy, up to 85kg [188 lbs] less weight and a range of efficient petrol and diesel engines – there is even a plug-in hybrid available.”
The new Passat will enjoy its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show in October.
