On its exterior, 17-inch (optional 18-inch) R-Line "Mallory" alloy wheels with 235/45 tyres lend a sporty touch to the Passat CC R-Line. The front spoiler and side skirts, each painted in body colour, were also re-styled. In addition, R-Line logos embellish the front side sections; the rear lights are smoked.

Inside the Passat CC R-Line, standard features include details like four customised tread plates in aluminium (with R-Line Logo in front) and a three-spoke leather-trimmed steering wheel with multifunction keys. The R-Line package has front fog lights and the Park Pilot system. The Passat R-Line leaves few wishes unfulfilled; even the base version of the Passat CC includes comfort and convenience features like sport seats and a climate control system.

The R-Line package is available with all Passat CC engines. Prices start at 2,200 Euros for the Passat CC 2.0 TDI (140 PS / 103 kW) with a 6-speed gearbox. Counting versions already introduced on the Golf, Scirocco, Touran, Tiguan, Passat, Passat Variant and Touareg, a total of eight models with R-Line equipment are now on the market.

With this combination no bodywork needed to get a great look. But for more sportive look JMS released a front Spoiler. This part is easy to fit in a short time on the original front bumper and is only 3cm deeper.

The black treatment continues inside with high-gloss piano black accents offset by matte black graphics. Customer black leather Recaro seats and matching floor mats are highlighted with white piping.

While the Performance CC looks striking, the upgrades will get hearts racing, the 2.0L TSI engine has been upgraded with an APR stage 3 turbocharger system with three performance levels. In Full Power mode the Performance CC brings 311 hp and 313 lbs. ft. torque; GT mode offers 252 hp and 268 lbs. ft. of torque; and in the Eco mode 222 hp and 236 lbs. ft. of torque. Also included is the APR stainless steel performance exhaust system. Key fact to take note of is that in the Eco performance mode, horsepower went up, as well as fuel economy. A production 2.0T CC automatic gets 28 hwy/19 city and our CC in Eco mode gets 33 hwy, 27 city. Even the full power mode showed a fuel economy increase!

The Performance CC sits on custom designed 10-spoke, 20-inch wheels and high performance 245/30 R20 Yokahama tires with an H&R street coil over sport suspension kit. With all this power to handle, Volkswagen has upgraded the brakes to provide extra power to stop. The Performance CC features 14-inch Brembo brakes with 4-piston Aluminum Alloy Brake Calipers and 355x32mm 2-Piece Floating Cross Drilled Discs with Billet Aluminum Hats.

The Revo 93 Octane performance program for the 2.0 TSi delivers an increase over stock of 35 to 45 peak horsepower with the new peak horsepower arriving at 5,400 rpm, and torque gains of 80 to 90 lb-ft between 3,200 and 4,400 rpm (flywheel). The stock 200km/h (124mph) speed limiter is removed and the rev limit is set to 7,200 rpm.

The Volkswagen Passat CC aerodynamics package not only improves the vehicle visually, but also environmentally, as it reduces the air resistance and the CO2 emission level by 1 g/km. That is why the renowned Kempten-based tuner offers ABT Power packages for the CC, too. They make the coupé more dynamic, and a still more superior appearance is guaranteed. The 1.8 TSI’s serial 160hp (118kW) are turned into mighty 200hp (147kW); thanks to ABT Power, the 2.0 TSI enjoys a power upgrade to 240hp (177kW). This turns the ABT Passat CC into a really sporty car, as the Allgäu-based tuners take care that the elegant coupé offers meatier performance also when it comes to acceleration. In order to round off the visual appearance of the CC, ABT Sportsline recommend their company’s wheel creations. The AR and the BR wheel rims are both available in sizes 18 to 20 inch. “It is of course a matter of taste which wheel the client prefers, but, personally, I think that the BR wheel with its corresponding spoke pairs suits the CC particularly well,” says Hans-Jürgen Abt. Of course AR and BR wheel rims are available in combination with suitable tires by the ABT partners Continental and Dunlop.

The 300-hp, 3.6-liter V6 remains, but the stock exhaust has been upgraded with a new cat-back unit sporting larger tailpipes. The front brakes have also been swapped out in favor of larger Brembo six-piston units and the wheels are 20-inchers pulled from the Touareg R-Line.

All the chrome trim has also been removed and replaced with pieces that match the Passat's Moonlight Blue hue. Inside, race-ready Recaros replace the softer buckets found on the standard model, and they match the two-tone, black-and-white steering wheel, shift boot and even seat belts quite nicely. Volkswagen has made it clear that the Passat R36 Variant Styling Study is exactly what its name would imply, but don't be surprised to find some of these custom bits available through VW's Individual program in the future.
