BLACK & CHROME: that is the theme under which accessory specialist Cobra Technology & Lifestyle now presents an exclusive special model concept for all body styles of the VW T5 van. The packages comprise various refinement levels and are available to dealers looking to upgrade their portfolio with an appealing special model as well as to all owners of a T5 van. Individual components such as the stainless-steel brush guards, the chrome-design decals and custom-tailored 20-inch wheels are also available. The all-inclusive package covers the vehicle from front to back, in other words, from the Cobra Cityguard® stainless-steel front element with integrated LED daytime running lights to the wheels and the tubular guard for the rear bumper.

The BLACK & CHROME design, which looks particularly spectacular on a black VW T5 van but also meshes well with all other colors, lends the van an even more striking nose.

The Cobra Cityguard® stainless-steel brush guard attaches to the underside of the front bumper. LED daytime running lights integrated into this accessory make the Multivan stand out even more and make it easier to spot in traffic – contributing to increased safety. As an effective addition the Cobra Technology & Lifestyle designers have developed a stainless-steel grille for the air duct in the front fascia.

The BLACK & CHROME concept also adds striking highlights to the sides of the T5 van. The chrome-film decals, also available without Cobra Technology & Lifestyle label, is part of the visual upgrade as are stainless-steel rocker panel guards with integrated steps that facilitate getting in and out of the vehicle. These components are also available with LED entrance lights, which are activated via the keyless fob or by pulling on a door handle for safer entering and exiting of the vehicle in the dark. The chrome-design mirror caps literally round out a truly shiny appearance.

The Cobra Technology & Lifestyle roof rails made from high-gloss stainless-steel are available as custom sets for all vehicles with short or long wheelbase and with or without drip rails. Custom cross members can expand this accessory into a complete luggage carrier system.

The rear appearance of the T5 sporting the Cobra BLACK & CHROME design can be further upgraded with a chrome strip for the liftgate and the Cobra Technology & Lifestyle stainless-steel rear guard.

A custom molding can protect the upper edge of the rear bumper against scratches that can happen easily during loading or unloading the trunk.

To give the rear more visual pizzazz and to optimize the vehicle’s aerodynamic properties customers can choose from the Cobra Technology & Lifestyle roof spoiler and the rear spoiler, which attaches to the liftgate.

In keeping with the BLACK & CHROME philosophy Cobra Technology & Lifestyle also equips the VW van with Cobra TORINO 9Jx20 black wheels with stainless-steel applications. The largest tires that can be mounted on the rear axle come in size 275/35 R 20. Cobra Technology & Lifestyle sport springs lower the ride height of the T5 by some 30 millimeters and are calibrated for use with these low-profile tires.

The van’s interior can be upgraded with stainless-steel scuff plates with backlit Cobra Technology & Lifestyle logo.

VW T5 by MR Car Design

MR Car Design has released a tuning package for the VW T5 Transporter . This package starts with an ECU remap that bumps the power quotient up to 208 PS (153 kW / 205 bhp) and 487 Nm (359 lb-ft) of torque. Now, the German tuner doesn't say which power plant they're dealing with here but we have to guess that it's the 2.0 liter TDI diesel with an output of 132 kW (179 PS / 177 bhp) and 400 Nm (300 lb-ft) of churning power.

MR Car Design also lifts the V-max lock and adds a new 4-pipe sport exhaust system for the proper 'cool van' sound.
The aerodynamic kit is supplied by Abt Sportsline and features a front-and-rear spoiler, a new grill, fog light inserts and side skirts. The headlamps also get LED daytime running lights.

For the air ride suspension, a lowering of up to 100 mm is offered. Wheels are the 10 x 22-inch TN4 Tomason in black alloy fitted with 265/30R22 tires.

The new ABT Multivan – a real cross sports vehicle

The VW van has always been a diverse vehicle - both with regards to its possible uses and the customising wishes of its owners. Be it as a camper van or a lifestyle transporter, the father of all vans can do everything and transport anything. “It has also long become the ideal tuning object” states Hans-Jürgen Abt.

For the General Manager of ABT Sportsline the van is a guaranteed success: “Above all it is due to the fact that the fundamentals have been excellently manufactured, and the vehicle is no longer just a means of transport”, says Hans-Jürgen Abt. Consequently the tradition-rich Allgäu company has also taken on the latest version of the diverse Wolfsburg van.

The designers have developed attachment parts for the van, which make the ABT Multivan a real large-capacity sports vehicle. Regardless of whether it is taking a family on holiday, the sports vehicle is being taken to its place of installation or is required as a shuttle service for business partners – with the ABT Multivan the journey is more extravagant and dynamic. True to the VW motto “Why be like all the others?” the transporter becomes a classy individual automobile, which confidently shows where it comes from.

The front grill gives the Multivan even more presence and underlines the striking face of the transporter. Due to the front spoiler the tall vehicle seems to virtually crouch on the road. The different parts of the bodywork form one unit, which gives the van a trace of exclusivity and sportiness: the front section, side sills and BR alloys in a representative 19 inch size provide contours on the long sides of the large-capacity liner, the rear spoiler and the 4-pipe rear muffler signalise that the all-rounder is a real ABT vehicle.

The “icing on the cake” is the rear wing, as in every ABT Multivan there is also a racing vehicle. The design elements which have been precisely adjusted to the character of the cross sports vehicle are available from now at ABT Sportsline and its partners, while the engineers at the Kempten company are still working on the additional ABT POWER upgrade for the 2.0 TDI. The extra power is intended to be perfectly tailor-made for the unending possibilities the large-capacity vehicle offers and meet the diverse demands of the ABT Multivan.

The Abt T5 Sport Plus package offers power upgrades for the 1.9 and the 2.5 TDI. The performance of the smaller Turbodiesel increases from 85 hp (63 kW) to 110 hp (81 kW) and the 105 hp engine to 130 hp (96 kW). The 2.5 liter self-igniting engine then performs powerful 160 hp (118 kW) instead of 130 hp (96 kW), the 195 hp engine (144 kW) instead of 174 hp (128 kW). But not only the power increase is feeleable, also the torque of all car versions rises significantly. In order that the additional power perfectly reaches the road, Abt suspension springs are almost a must in the PLUS package.

A real Abt T5 does not only drive sporty and is surprisingly agile when moved forward, it also looks dynamical. Responsible for the powerful optics is the complete Abt body kit, perfectly tailored for the striking appearance of the T5 by the designers from Kempten. This body kit contains front spoiler, front grille, fog lamp inserts, side skirts, rear skirt and rear wing. The rear view of the all-round car is affected by the Abt 4-pipe rear muffler, giving the T5 a powerful noise.

To complement this masterpiece, wheels in the size 8.5x19 inch with tyres in the dimension 255/40 ZR19 are inevitable. The driver of a T5 can choose the new BR wheel in diamond or high gloss polished.
