Austrian tuner O.CT Tuning has available a performance kit for the VW Group's 1.4-liter TSI engine. This engine combines direct injection with a supercharger and turbocharger and is currently available with outputs of 140, 150, 160 and 170HP. For each version, the O.CT's performance kit includes a modded ECU that the raises power to 193HP and toque to 285 Nm (+65 Nm).

The power enhancement is achieved through reprogramming of the ECU (Electronic control unit). O.CT Tuning offers serious tuning along with TÜV-certification.

O.CT CW Tiguan SUV The folks over at O.CT. supportcthat with this kit, the Golf 1.4 TSI accelerates from zero to 100 km/h (62mph) in 8.0 sec or 1.2 seconds faster that the 140HP factory model and to 160 km/h (100 mph) in 18.5 sec instead of 24.5 sec. The O.CT Golf's top speed is also improved from 205 km/h (127mph) to 225 km/h (140mph).

With the same kit, the VW Tiguan 1.4 TSI 4Motion allegedly sprints to 100 km/h a full second faster and reaches 180 km/h (112mph) a whopping 10 seconds sooner than the standard vehicle.

Volkswagen’s Tiguan is already getting some interesting makeovers, latest courtesy of Bavarian 4x4 specialist Delta. Two models are created, a road version and an offroad sibling. A few changes have taken place in this manner: suspension has been lowered by some 30mm (for a small fee of €490) for the road car, with flared wings, wider wheels and a sport exhaust system to sound the part.

Go has been taken care of as well, to the tune of some 169 bhp/ 126kW and 384Nm of torque, both up on the standard vehicle. Power, which may or may not corrupt, comes at a price. In this case it’s €1,300. Offroad tyres range from 16 to 22 inches, depending. Costs are the same for both types of car.

If you choose to take to the bush you can opt for the higher Tiguan, raised all of 50mm. Cosmetically the radiator grille gets same paint as wheels. Whether this is a good thing or not is really up to the buyer, although €330 later one may consider it money ill-spent. Each to his own then. Take the offroad car and part with some €39,772.

The newest development from Motoren Technik Mayer GmbH once again places more emphasis on results versus mere appearances. The engine specialist from Wettstetten, Germany offers its newly developed MTM M-Cantronic, as an alternative to the new programming of the original engine control unit, enticing better performance and torque out of Volkswagen’s current diesel engines.

With a further alternative, the F-Cantronic, MTM lays a hand on the electronically controlled suspension height. Both variations are immediately available. Further possible applications of the MTM Cantronic such as a removal of the V-max limitation are currently being developed.

M-Cantronic

The M-Cantronic is an electronic device altering the engine maps of the ECU three-dimensionally. MTM exploits the full potential of previously unused power reserves. Instead of generally raising the fuel pressure by a certain percentage and thereby possibly damaging the engine, MTM takes a softer approach. The Cantronic takes engine speed into consideration in performance optimization. It taps the RPM values from the CAN-bus (Controller Area Network), and, dependent on this, varies fuel and boost pressure. With this complex modification, the M-Cantronic offers all the advantages a conventional chip-tuning has, yet providing further amenities.

In comparison to a re-programmed original engine control unit, the M-Cantronic can be built in by customers themselves or from a garage and just as simple and in an uncomplicated manner, removed again. Following a new re-programming by MTM and an eventually necessary replacement of cable harness, the M-Cantronic may be further utilized in other vehicles. It therefore offers a better suited solution for customers that often exchange their vehicles providing convenient replacement and simple self-assembly. Given the current ecological debate, MTM pays special attention to the particle filter. In spite of a noticeable increased performance, the M-Cantronic has no negative consequences for its function and effectiveness. Even if a garage installs a software update for the engine control unit, the Cantronic remains unaffected.

MTM offers the M-Cantronic inclusive of TÜV-parts certificate and EMC-testing.

M-Cantronic for the new VW Tiguan

VW Tiguan 2.0 TDI: The new VW Tiguan 2.0 TDI is also one of the first models that MTM provides with more power through its M-Cantronic. The result is 132 kW (180 hp) at 4100 rpm and powerful 360 Nm at 2500 rpm. For a further ounce of performance caters a new exhaust system with two double-end tailpipes. MTM is just preparing the total power hammer: a modified turbocharger and specially tuned exhaust system together with the Cantronic generate breathtaking 210hp. Better braking performance guarantees a new braking system with choice of either 330, 365 or 380 mm brake discs. Agile driving characteristics are achieved by MTM suspension springs or optionally an adjustable coilover suspension. Ultimately, wheels in format 8,5x19“ ET50 or an even mightier 9x20“ ET44 complete the refined appearance of the Tiguan.

F-Cantronic

In the Volkswagen Group, there are several vehicles equipped with electronic air suspension. Again here the MTM Cantronic hooks up into CAN-Bus data stream. The electronic lowering in the form of the F-Cantronic will soon be available for the current models Audi A6, Allroad, A8 and Q7, Bentley Continental GT, Continental GTC and Flying Spur, VW models Touareg and Phaeton as well as the Porsche Cayenne.

All Cantronic variations can be ordered for immediately. The complete delivery of a Cantronic consists of the Cantronic module itself, a vehicle-specific cable harness, instructions, TÜV-approval and original MTM logo in chrome. Both Cantronic variations are available from MTM importers as well as MTM´s online shop.

Further information about the extensive automotive technology program of MTM for vehicles of the Audi – Volkswagen Group can be found on the internet at www.mtm–online.de or by telephone 049-841-98188-88.

They underline in a special way the sporty dynamic character of the new SUV. The halogen twin headlights are a convincing choice thanks to their wide, very bright close-range illumination and good range.

If required, when the road is clear, the high beam turns night into day. The trendy black appearance is achieved through the darkening of optically-neutral headlight zones. Of course, full light output is available.

The ECE type-approved black Upgrade headlights for the Volkswagen Tiguan will be available on the automotive aftermarket from February 2008.

The SUV family from the Allgaeu region gets a sleek increment. The new Abt Tiguan is more than the "small" brother of the successful Touareg. The car presents itself very self-contained in technology and form. "With its straight lines and curves at the right place it is a very likeable car," says Hans-Jürgen Abt. The managing director of the successful Allgäu-based company is convinced that the Abt Tiguan will become a big hit.

Actually the designers from Kempten tailored a body kit for the newcomer which underlines the dynamical car body and the powerful appearance of the many-sided automobile. The single components perfectly harmonize with each other. Front spoiler and front grille accentuate the impish face and let it look considerably more aggressive. Thanks to the fender extensions the Abt Tiguan appears even more brawny, the door strip attachments in the entry area take up the hip bend of the serial car. Rear skirt and rear wing form a suitable rear view of the overall successful car. Both perfectly harmonize with the 4-pipe rear muffler, also optimized in sound for the Diesel so that the self-igniting engine sounds really aggressive and sporty.

Recommendable as perfect completion are the noble wheels from Abt Sportsline. If the owner of a Tiguan decides for the classic AR or the new BR wheel with its expressive, corresponding spokes, is a matter of taste. And so is the size of the wheels, available in 18, 19 and mighty 20 inch. Of course, also complete wheel-tyre sets can be ordered.

But the Abt Tiguan not only looks powerful, its riding qualities authorize it to be a sporty car for all opportunities. No matter which motorization the Tiguan driver chooses, in the Allgäu one always gets a significant power increase. This means, the power of the 1.4 TSI will be increased from serial 150 hp (110 kW) to 200 hp (147 kW). And the Turbodiesel with two liters cubic capacity then offers 170 hp (125 kW) instead of 140 hp (103 kW). If more is demanded, Abt Power S with the new Abt Turbo comes into consideration. Then, in the 2.0 TDI (147 kW) engine, 200 Diesel horses come into force, noticeably pushing the car. Thanks to the suspension springs and the adjustable sports suspension from Abt, the Tiguan brings its power onto all lanes and offers a lot of driving pleasure, especially on curvaceous country roads. Due to the fact that such an active car must remain controllable in every situation, the team from Kempten installed the Abt brake system, measuring 345 x 30 millimeters, in their compact SUV.

The latest member of the Kempten SUV family is easily able to get out of the mighty shadows of the Abt Touareg and Abt AS7 because the Abt Tiguan is a compact extra class of its own.
