ABT Sportsline made the double

Premier for ABT Sportsline: For the first time the readers of the German magazine . “sport auto” have voted the Bavarian tuner to be “Best Brand”. The readers have however not chosen ABT Sportsline to be “Best Brand” once, but twice. The worldwide biggest tuner for cars of the Volkswagen Group, convinced with its typical ABT design in the category “Optical Tuning”.

That the German tuner is also a benchmark in regards to power enhancement has been honoured by the readers by voting ABT as “Best Brand” in the category “Motor-Tuning”. “That is the acknowledgement for our long lasting work. I am happy that the readers of “sport auto” do honour this,” says Hans-Jürgen Abt. For the CEO of ABT Sportsline this double is the incentive to work on innovative, perfect and successful products.

VWs at the Tuner Grand Prix 2010

Eight Volkswagens raced on this year’s Sport Auto Tuner Grand Prix. It was MTM driver Florian Gruber has won the Tuner Grand Prix 2010 at the Hockenheim race circuit this year. MTM is also a VW tuner, but they didn’t have any VW racing. But other tuners raced with VWs...

Rothe Motorsport participated 10 times in the tuner Grand Prix. They had 4 cars on the event running on different classes. Their favorite is the VW Caddy but also the new flagship, the Golf R20 6, who convinced everyone with a class win. The R20 was piloted by Markus Gedlich, former champion and runner-up several times in the DTC and multiple FIA endurance races.

The Rothe Golf R20 has 380hp at the wheels and Markus Gedlich fought hard with his stronger competitor, the VW Golf 4-Motion turbo from BTS‐Racing, and made 1:10,75 on the best lap time, very close to the GT class lap times. The Rothe R20 made a better laptime than the MTM Audi R8 GT3‐2! Wendland also won the diesel class with a VW Polo TDI making 1:14 on the best lap.

The R20 is equipped with Bilstein PSS Coilovers 10, Dunlop Direzza tires, and a 6-piston brake system with Movit 370mm fitted at the front.

The VW Golf VI R with 270hp from the 2.0 TFSI engine and the standard 4-Motion all-wheel drive is a good base for Rothe Motorsport extensive range of performance enhancements. They provide 5 different levels of upgrade, with level 1 with a ecu upgrade already rises the output to 310hp.

Stage 5 is not for road usage and upgrades the power output to 500hp thanks to changes to the intake, exhaust system with throttle control and special Rothe Motorsport turbocharger and exhaust manifold.

BTS-Racing
BTS-Racing is also a engine and turbocharger specialist from German. They also work in all areas of your vehicle using providing individual solutions to their customers. They can also upgrade the VW Golf R to 500hp thanks to a ball bearing turbocharging, larger injectors, high pressure pump, larger intercoolers, but also lots of engine internals upgrades.

Topcar
Topcar’s VW golf was piloted by Ronny and reached 5th place in his class. It was the weakest car in its class, but is prepared to CH-approved and meets after tuning the stringent Euro 5 exhaust emissions and noise! Topcar is the only tuner from Switzerland.They are specialized in VW, Audi, Skoda and Seat cars.

ABT looking for historical witnesses of a bygone tuning culture

Many years ago people used to wear their hair, even in Kempten, in styles which seem strange to us nowadays. ABT Sportsline, however, already knew how to properly "style" cars from the VW group 50 years ago. Since then the motto "cooler, faster, wider" has lost none of its fascination. "With the approaching anniversary the longing has grown to see some family members again, who have left us over the years", explains General Manager Hans-Jürgen Abt.

For its 50th anniversary, the traditional company has therefore invited all tuning fans who own an ABT car which is more than 20 years old, to get in touch. It is not just cars that have been completely reconstructed, such as the legendary "Golf Breitbau version" of the early 80s. "Distant relatives" with less extensive modifications are also warmly welcomed. Representatives of all models are being sought after, from the Scirocco I to the Corrado, from the DKW F12 to the Audi 200, from the Polo to the Audi V8.

In all cases the following applies: the more ABT there is inside, the better the chance of victory. This is because the best car will receive a unique prize, which is not on any price list. Hans-Jürgen and Christian Abt will welcome the best vehicle in person at the company site in Kempten, the place where it once had its important "styling" appointment, and will give the owner a tour of the museum and the company. In addition the owner will receive a signed ABT book, essentially the "family album" of the tuning company. And as the Allgäu region is not just about nice cars, but also has fascinating countryside and cities to discover, an exclusive overnight stay is also included.

All of which means you can take your time for the visit. Although sometimes it's nice to put your foot down, at other times you also have to change down a gear, in order to really enjoy the drive.

Performance improvements from Kempten

Regardless of whether it is a diesel or petrol car - ABT Sportsline, the largest tuner for cars of the VW group in the world, offers diverse performance improvements for almost all equipment. Do you just want a few more HP so that you are able to cope with everyday traffic with aplomb?

Then ABT POWER is the right choice for you. Here the electronic engine control unit is optimised and perfectly adjusted to suit the character of the car. This actually no longer has anything to do with chip tuning, as ABT POWER does not make any risky modifications to the hardware. Here "only” the software is modified. This is because alongside the engine control unit a new turbo charger "Made in Kempten” is also applied. All the components are highly-efficiently coordinated with each other and fit perfectly. ABT Sportsline sets up subsidiary ABT Asia in Singapore

In contrast to the trend of the European and US automobile market, Asia is presenting itself with stable growth – a trading area with a future. The international automobile corporations have also understood this, and have been increasing their presence there for some time now. Audi and Volkswagen are among the most popular import brands.

Reason enough for ABT Sportsline as a worldwide leading customizer for vehicles of the Volkswagen Group to pay particular attention to this market and to open up its own Asia branch in Singapore.

Hans-Jürgen Abt, Managing Director of ABT Sportsline, explained the intention that led to the setting up of the subsidiary: "The market in Asia is fiercely contested. With the foundation of ABT Asia, we would like to offer our partners in Asia and Oceania the best possible support". The idea slowly ripened and was well thought-out: the long-established company has been a firm factor in the vehicle-customizing segment in Asia for years. For the past two proud decades, ABT has maintained close business relationships with Japan and Taiwan and was one of the first companies to discover the Chinese market.

At the end of 2007, the findings from this work supported the decision to establish a subsidiary in Singapore. Asia expert Wolfgang Kitzeder, who was ABT Sportsline Export Director up to now, will be the managing director of ABT Asia. He will manage the business out of his office in Singapore and personally look after partners from China to Australia: "With the foundation of ABT Asia, we would like to use the constant growth of the markets over the coming years and increase ABT Sportsline's overall result percentage considerably", said the future managing director of the Asian branch of the long-established Allgäu company.

On 3rd November 2008, ABT Asia will commence operations in Singapore.

Zender tuning is over

Maybe you have read something already, but in case you don’t know, we want to inform that Zender close down the business-division "aftersales tuning" within September 01,2008. From thereon there will be no longer Zender branded tuning accessories on the market.
