Forge Announces New High Flow Inlet Hose For VW Group MQB Chassis Cars

You’ve got to hand it to VW, they really do know what’s involved with developing a world class, multi-make platform on which to base their key models! The most recent example of Wolfsburg’s mastery of the art of platform sharing is the MQB, the chassis on which the Mk7 Golf, SEAT Leon and Audi A3 are based, including the performance iterations of all 3; the GTI/R, Cupra 280/290 and the S3. Forge Motorsport’s latest product is for these very cars, a high flow inlet hose made to impeccably high standards – as you would expect!

One issue that Forge’s engineering team has discovered with the MQB platform relates to its inlet, or rather the plastic pipe which VW Group saw fit to base it upon. Not only is said pipe nothing special to look at, it’s been shown to be highly restrictive and therefore not exactly conducive to performance applications or those considering tuning their cars to any meaningful degree. The Forge kit is a complete, uprated replacement, significantly improving induction efficiency and performance at a stroke, which in turn equates to increases of up to 10bhp, a remarkable hike for such an easy to install component.

Performance aside, the Forge high flow intake kit is undeniably a more technically polished, better realised offering than the component it replaces. Boasting a smooth bore, multi-ply construction with a liner of modified silicone known as Flurosilicone intended to promote extreme strength and resistance to both heat and pressure, the kit is a mightily capable offering. It also ships with billet machined couplers made to exact tolerances at Forge’s own Gloucestershire HQ. These ensure a perfect fit and a straightforward installation process.
