MTM dominates the tuning category for estate cars and vans

No fewer than 77,218 readers of “Auto Bild Motorsport” and “Auto Bild Sportcars” cast their ballots in the “Auto Bild Sports Car of the Year” competition. They voted for a total of 143 candidates in eight categories contesting the coveted title, being awarded this year for the twelfth time. Readers placed mtm’s T 500 in pole position in the tuned estate cars and vans category. Around 600 business, media and motor sport representatives attended the evening spectacle at the invitation of Stefan Müller, Axel Springer Auto Verlag’s Head of Marketing, and followed the elegant compèring by Lina Van de Mars.

Roland Mayer, Managing Director of mtm GmbH, accepted the trophy before then revealing its importance to this select audience: “Successes that are bestowed on one by the public, in this case by Auto Bild readers, are what give a success story its true savour. You can win races every day, exhibiting commitment and product quality in the process. But it counts for little if it goes unnoticed by those whose opinions matter most around their regular table in the pub.

The mtm T 500 makes a persuasive case for its pre-eminent position: 472 hp and a massive 625 Nm of torque from its 2.5 litre TFSI five-cylinder engine ensure a protracted sojourn in the outside lane. But at 280 km/h, even the T 500 has nothing further to offer.
